About the Position
Rue Insurance’s Director of Human Resources & Recruiting partners with Executive Leadership to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy, particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning. The Director also supervises the Administrative Team to ensure all day-to-day administrative functions of the company are completed timely and efficiently. The Director is directly responsible for the overall planning and coordination of the Human Resources and Administrative functions of the organization to help support all departments within the company to reach their goals.

Work Schedule & Classification: Full-time, exempt position
Duties & Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Manages the Administrative Team by providing training, coaching, and conducting meetings to ensure day-to-day responsibilities are completed in a thorough, timely, and efficient manner
- Leads and manages the talent acquisition process, which includes collaborating with supervisors to understand skills and competencies required for openings, sources candidates through online sources and job posts within an agreed upon budget, posts open positions on the Rue Insurance website, partners with recruiters, completes interviews, administers pre-employment screenings, and attends career fairs to ensure open positions are filled by candidates (internal or external) with top talent
- Provides support and guidance to leadership and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, employee disciplinary meetings, Performance Improvement Plans, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations
- Makes recommendations in creating learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees
- Maintains company compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; ensures Federal I-9 compliance, reviews policies and practices, and updates Employee Handbook when necessary
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
- Coordinates the annual performance evaluation process including promoting consistency in fair rating throughout the company and revises the process as necessary
- Performs day-to-day employee leave and benefits administration, assists employees with questions, and processes changes in status, COBRA administration, beneficiary changes, etc.
- Ensures all HR, supervisor, and IT new hire checklists are completed, completes required background and reference checks, conducts new employee orientations and monitors and tracks the completion of the new hire training program
- Facilitates the employee termination/resignation process, ensures supervisors are compliant with state and federal requirements, appropriately documents employee/supervisor interactions, assists supervisors with progressive discipline programs (if warranted), conducts exit interviews, monitors any online employment review sites, and coordinates the completion of HR, supervisor and IT termination checklists
- Maintains the company work structure by providing accurate and updated job descriptions for all positions within the company, an organizational chart showing supervisory responsibilities and a company directory
- Coordinates annual employee surveys and provides recommendations to Executive Leadership based on the results to maintain a positive company culture
- Maintains utmost confidentiality with all company and employee records
- Actively participates in regular leadership meetings and monthly company meetings
- Performs all other duties or projects as assigned
Qualifications & Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- PHR or SHRM-CP Designation preferred
- 5-10 years Human Resources Generalist & Recruitment experience
- 2-4 years Supervisory/Management experience
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong business acumen
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent customer service mindset and skills
- Ability to multi-task and complete work with a sense of urgency
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Moderate computer aptitude and skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point)
- Experience with Indeed, JazzHR, and Paychex Flex a plus

Physical Requirements:
Must be capable of sitting for a long period of time, working on a computer, standing, and walking. Frequent lifting of up to 20 pounds and occasional lifting of 21 to 50 pounds required.
