About the Position  

Rue Insurance’s Sales Summer Intern will participate in a 10-week rotation (6 hrs a day Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) where they are responsible for learning and developing insurance skills by participating in various classes, workshops, and duties. As a Sales Intern within the insurance industry, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in various aspects of insurance sales and customer service.  This internship will provide exposure to sales techniques, networking skills, client relationship management, and insurance product knowledge.  You will work closely with experienced sales producers to learn the fundamentals of selling insurance products and services. Quality of work must exemplify the best-in-class service standards established by Rue Insurance at all times.  

              

Reports to: Director of Sales                                     Department/Unit: Sales 

Work Schedule & Classification: Part-time, hourly (non-exempt) position Starting 6/2/2025 through 8/7/2025 Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:30am to 3:30pm with a 1 hour lunch.

Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

  • Sales Techniques: Shadow experienced sales representatives to observe and learn effective sales techniques, including prospecting, cold calling, and networking. 

  • Product Knowledge: Gain a thorough understanding of the insurance products and services offered by Rue Insurance.  Be able to understand the features, benefits and coverage options to clients. 

  • Sales Support: Provide administrative support to the sales team, including preparing sales material, organizing information for the producer to effectively prepare for a new business appointment, renewal, as well as assist with handling an audit.  

  • Blog Articles:  Write 2-3 blog articles within a specific industry / niche to be published on our website as well as LinkedIn.  

  • Prospecting and Lead Generation:  Assist in identifying potential clients and generating leads through various channels, including referrals, online research, and networking events. 

  • Training and Development: Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance sales skills, product knowledge, and industry understanding. 

  • Final Sales Presentation: Compile and analyze data on a specific niche within the insurance industry. Present to the management team why you chose your specific niche, core industry knowledge (trends, risks, economic position), opportunities within niche and most importantly the policy highlights and carrier recommendations. 

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies in all sales activities and interactions.      

  • Perform: All other duties as assigned                

                                          

Qualifications & Education: 

  • Open to college Juniors, with a graduation date of May, 2026
    Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program, preferably in Sales, Risk Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 

  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced sales environment.  

  • Interest in the insurance industry and willingness to obtain relevant licenses or certifications.  

  • Prior experience in sales or customer service is a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements: 

Must be capable of sitting for a long period of time, working on a computer, standing, and walking. Lifting of up to 20lbs and occasional lifting of 21 to 50 lbs required.
